Working in the Flow
We know when we feel it but it is not always with us. I felt it once in a netball grand final but what about at work? Working in the flow happens when we are working with our strengths.
Do you know your strengths? How important are they? What’s stopping you from using them at work each day?
Some signs that you are not working with your strengths include:
• Hitting the snooze button
• Dreading going to work
• Working ridiculous hours
• Lacking the confidence to ask for the flexibility you want
• Feeling stuck
• Having more negative than positive interactions with work colleagues
• Telling your friends what a miserable company you work in
Not working with your strengths can have serious implications for your health and relationships. The Immunity to Change research talks about the fear that holds us back when confronted with possible change even when the consequences are life threatening. Gallup research promotes a strengths-based approach to improve confidence, direction, hope and kindness toward others.
Marianne Williamson said, ‘Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we’re powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous. Actually who are we not to be?
